The Manly Art of Knitting

The Manly Art of Knitting

Check this out crafters!!! I love it!!! Giddy up cowboy. I’ve never seen this book in the flesh so to speak, but a friend of mine sent me the picture. Just when you thought crafts were the domain of women you see this!!

I think that craft is so intertwined with the domestic that it immediately is seen as the feminine past time, but not always it seems.

Whilst having a quick look about the origins of crochet (my preferred yarn wrestling medium)I discovered that….In the 19th century, as Ireland was facing the Great Irish Famine (1845-1849), crochet lace work was introduced as a form of famine relief?? (Wikipedia)

Well, I’ll be darned….or should i say crocheted?
